THE BIG PICTURE
MIA believes that
“…the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.”
Hab 2:14
MIA believes that
…God is an outward being. The Holy Trinity is eternally loving, selfless, forgiving, faithful, powerful and overflows with all that He is. God is not merely a powerful creator but first and foremost a loving Father. From Him flows creation and redemption. He is the very definition of and source of all true beauty! He is fundamentally a fountain as such, perpetually flowing outward.
To behold and delight in the glory of His beauty is to begin to know Him. The more we know Him, the more we love Him, resulting in a lifestyle of worship. Being as we become like that which we worship, the more we worship Him, the more like Him we become – outward people!
Jesus descension to earth, emptying of Himself and humiliation on the cross was the ultimate outward act. No one has ever given more nor ever will. He was the ultimate display of missions. This is the life the church is called to. This is what drives MIA. This is missions, to go, worship and multiply worshipers of God.
“As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you!” John 20:21
We pray for God’s Kingdom to come and will to be done on earth as it is in Heaven as we work out our small part in contributing to this end:
“After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, ‘Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!’” Revelation 7:9
AN OUTWARD CHURCH
It is our conviction that a biblical church is a missional church. Each member of the church is to be focused on and heavily invested in missions in a way particular to their current situation and personal calling. That may take on many different forms including but not limited to: long-term cross-cultural missions, or a season of preparation for this, praying regularly for the nations and for missionaries, sending out missionaries by giving them your spiritual blessing and covering and/or funding them financially, contacting or visiting missionaries with service, encouragement, or aid, etc.
THE DETAILS
The main emphasis of our work is the Gospel and seeking to live that out in every area of our lives. We realize that the Gospel is food for the believer and not just a message to the unbeliever. MIA’s passion is to communicate and explore the many facets of the Gospel with clarity and precision. Emphasis in our ministry include assessing and addressing idolatry, understanding our identity in Christ and how we understand God’s identity personally, practicing spiritual disciplines as an outflow from abiding in Christ, and cultivating lives daily lived in God’s presence.
We are extremely cautious of teachings that distort or soften the Gospel in any way. We are also aware that believers do not live out the Gospel perfectly and therefore we seek to identify these errors and grow in grace together.
Moralistic Therapeutic Deism
Seeking God as a means to an end and not an end in Himself. Such as, believing if I follow God He will bless my career or give me stuff.
Going to God for forgiveness for forgiveness sake and not for the sake of being reconciled to God.
Attempting to atone for your own sins by punishing yourself in some way.
Thinking God will accept you or love you based on your performance.
Thinking that you have to stop sinning and clean up your act before you can come to Jesus.
Thinking that God owes you blessing in some way because you have prayed enough, read your Bible enough and attended church regularly, etc.
Thinking God will not bless you or hear your prayers because you are not holy enough.
Thinking that Christ paid for your sins and since you are forgiven you don’t have to feel remorse or repent for your sins.
Believing that God cannot forgive you for your sins, that they are too large.
Believing that Christ was less than God, and therefore cannot save.
Believing that your good deeds must outweigh your bad deeds and that you make it into Heaven if you’re a good enough person.
Being unable or unwilling to forgive someone who has hurt you.
Having a distorted understanding of God as Father.
Having a distorted understanding of how God sees you.
Running away from God instead of to God because of sin.
Thinking if you fully give your life to God everything will be smooth sailing.
Believing that things that go wrong are some form of punishment from God.
Doubting God’s love for you as God’s child.
Doubting your salvation as God’s child.
Putting your hope in something other than God Himself.
Desiring the gift more than the Giver of all good things.
Adding laws which are not found in the Scripture.
There are many more, but these are a few examples of some of the big ones.

RELATIONSHIPS & PATIENT EVANGELISM
At the core of our missions methods are relationship building. Given the context of the Ukrainian culture we understand the stereotypes we are up against when it comes to presenting evangelicalism or protestant church systems to the people. There is a high level of misunderstanding and distrust.
To break down these barriers we strategically seek ways to effectively build trust, rapport, friendships and through that to gain a platform whereby we can share Christ in a fruitful way! This demands that we often step out of our comfort zones, sacrifice our own time, be patient and exercise discernment in our timing and approach as to how, when, where and who we discuss the Gospel with.
